Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Meditation Classes

Evening of meditation, offered freely, or by donation Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, 2304 McKinley Avenue, Berkeley, CA (near Bancroft and MLK Jr Way).   No registration necessary.
     
Thursday evening February 9, 2006, 6:30pm to 8:30pm Free introduction to Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Institute for Health and Healing, 2020 Webster Street, San Francisco (between California and Sacramento).  Registration is required for this free class.

Biography

Fred Santideva Kral, Ph.D., C.D.L., C.A.L.M.., is a gentle and knowledgeable instructor of stress reduction and pain management through mindfulness of body and mind.  He is a certified meditation group leader, having been trained by Jack Kornfield, Ph.D., Sylvia Boorstein, George Mumford, Joseph Goldstein, Joanna Macy, Ph.D., Mary Orr, Ajahn Amaro, James Baraz and others at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center.  He has studied insight meditation and hatha yoga in Thailand, England, Italy, Switzerland and the U.S. since 1991.  He has received instruction in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) by participating in a 7-day professional training program under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D., of the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.  He is a lay Buddhist minister, guided by his mentors Ajahn Amaro and Ajahn Pasanno of the Abhayagiri Buddhist MonasteryBorn in Sweden and educated both at Harvard University and at the University of California, Berkeley, he speaks five languages and has taught meditation, emotional intelligence, communication, leadership, physics, astronomy and mathematics in a wide variety of multicultural organizations.  He lives with his wife in Berkeley, California.
